The Lake Highlands Multimodal Connectivity project is a continuation of the previous work done to create a walkable neighborhood built near the Lake Highlands Station served by DART Rail Blue Line.  This phase of the project includes a trail extension and intersection improvements north of the Lake Highlands Town Center. The construction of a 12-foot sidewalk featuring pedestrian amenities and a bridge will provide both bicyclists and pedestrians with safer access to White Rock Creek. 
Other attractions in the area include a 20-acre park with a jogging trail, a lake and an outdoor amphitheater. Pedestrian activity is encouraged along Wildcat Way, a promenade lined with trees, where shopping, dining and entertainment options are available for employees and residents in the area.

NCTCOG funded transportation improvements of $2,774,222 with a local match of $693,556 from the City of Dallas through the 2009-2010 Sustainable Development Call for Projects to support this transit-oriented development. The project funded a hike-bike trail, pedestrian bridges, pedestrian counters, and landscaping.

The project cost of $3,467,778 was funded through public-private partnerships.
