2009-2010 Call for Projects
Status: Complete

The Vitruvian Sustainable Development Project is a mixed-use redevelopment of an aging apartment community in south Addison near Brookhaven College. The project includes street construction, pedestrian amenities, traffic signalization, and landscaping. Connections were made to the Brookhaven Running Trail that surrounds Brookhaven College, making the overall trail length approximately 4.6 miles.

The project added approximately 0.2 miles of pedestrian amenities along Spring Valley Road that better connect the Vitruvian Park to the Alfred J. Loos Sports Complex, Addison Town Park, and a nearby soccer complex.  Increased bicycle and pedestrian amenities also allow access to multiple restaurants, government services buildings, apartment complexes, and a Tom Thumb grocery store.

The project cost of $3,672,000 was funded through public-private partnerships.

Mixed-use Information

  • 51,826 ft.2 of office/retail/restaurant
  • 1,140 units of multifamily residential units
  • 11.96 acres of open space
