NCTCOG hosted this workshop through the integrating Transportation and Stormwater Infrastructure (TSI) Study that seeks to reduce future flood risk through the integration of transportation, environmental, and stormwater planning. Evaluating Flood Early Warning Systems (FEWS) is an important part of this effort. The TSI Study Team is working through a FEWS Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that is transferable and scalable to be used by communities to develop or enhance their flood warning capacity. This SOP will guide communities through the FEWS Masterplan process (that is also being developed), which will define objectives, summarize regional characteristics, document existing capacity, perform gap analysis, and develop a framework (i.e. “roadmap”).
More information about the TSI Study can be found at www.nctcog.org/tsi.
