Rethinking Approaches to Rain Gardens and Green Infrastructure
Thursday, September 30, 2021, 9:00-10:30 am
Many local governments are tasked with the challenge of engaging and educating their communities on a variety of stormwater topics. Most are familiar with initiatives such as pet waste campaigns, rain barrels, landscaping with native and adaptive plants, and promoting "only rain down the stormdrain". But has your community ever considered adding rain gardens to the mix?
This webinar focused on how rain gardens can present an opportunity to not only educate communities about stormwater but also serve to engage them in stormwater practices. Speakers included Lisa Treese from KC Water in Kansas City, MO, and Mike Heimos from Columbia, MO. They shared lessons learned all the way from implementation to engaging volunteers in city-owned rain gardens.
