Healthy Creeks and Waterways: Vegetation and the Flow of Healthy Waterways

The focus of this webinar was the role of riparian buffers and vegetation on the flow and health of waterways.  Topics included an overview on what riparian buffers and greenbelts are and their role and impact on water quality; an overview of the Denton County Greenbelt Plan as an example of focused planning efforts for riparian preservation and restoration; the social and economic benefits of riparian buffer preservation and restoration; whether or not the establishment of mowing ordinances are right for your municipality; strategies for addressing public safety concerns and perceptions related to "no-mow" zones; and resources and tools that are available to help preserve and protect riparian buffers.
