Bicycle Safety Action Plan
About
"Even one death on the transportation system is unacceptable. Staff will work with our partners to develop projects, programs, and policies that assist in eliminating serious injuries and fatalities across all modes of travel." - Regional Safety Position, Regional Transportation Council (February 2019) |
The North Central Texas Council of Governments is developing a regional Bicycle Safety Action Plan with the goal of eliminating fatal and serious injury bicycle crashes in the region's urbanized areas.
The Safety Plan will support the Regional Transportation Council's Regional Safety Position by recommending policies, program and projects to promote safe travel for those who choose to bicycle on North Texas roadways.
Recommendations will be supported by detailed crash analysis, systemic analysis of local and state roadways, and public input. The Safety Plan will also identify action items for the 5 Es of planning: Engineering, Education, Enforcement, Encouragement, and Evaluation.
