Safe Routes to School Training Workshop
As North Central Texas continues to experience rapid growth and changing development patterns, communities face evolving challenges with providing safe, convenient, and equitable access to schools. These challenges highlight the importance of creating connected transportation networks that allow students of all ages and abilities to safely walk, bike, and roll to school.
NCTCOG will host a series of one-day Safe Routes to School (SRTS) training workshops taught by Diane Lambert and Yvonne Kaczor of Toole Design.
The workshop will provide practitioners with a strong foundation for the following.
- Why SRTS planning is important and how to plan for safety improvements for school-aged children
- How to prioritize schools for SRTS in your community
- SRTS project implementation challenges and solutions
- Undertaking field safety audits/observations at schools
