2023 Freight Safety Campaign

The 2023 Freight Safety Campaign has begun. Safety is critical to the movement of freight in North Central Texas. NCTCOG works to improve safety in freight in many ways including a safety education campaign focused on freight every other year. The goal for this year’s campaign is to reduce freight-related accidents and inform the public about safe driving practices near large commercial motor vehicles. The campaign will have a focus on relatability; with the use of diverse photos, memorable slogans, memes and a greater understanding of risk prevention, the goal is to encourage all drivers to think more about safety on the roadways and at railroad crossings. Safety tips will be presented through a wide variety of mediums including social media, podcasts, billboards, posters, and radio ads.

Truck and passenger vehicles interact daily, which can present possible life-threatening incidents.
These can be mitigated through greater awareness and safer driving habits.

This year’s campaign will also better incorporate rail safety.

It is important to keep our communities safe through continued rail crossing safety education.
